All the hopes and dreams of one of SA's top Off-Road Racing Teams has become a reality!!

Philip de Vries (driver) and Johan Viljoen (navigator) showed their steel in this year's Donaldson Cross Country Championships, and made Conqueror and sponsor teams very proud!

Philip and Johan had outperformed themselves with outstanding results in the last of eight races that were held at Westonaria. There were a total of 96 Off-Road Racing cars that has competed, including some of the world's excellent competitors from the Dakar Race and Motor Sports Teams and Motor Industry such as Toyota and Ford.

The team had an outstanding prologue result that determined their starting position for the Saturday's race. Our team in the Conqueror Porter started in a second position, only 10 seconds behind the leaders. Philip and Johan described the route as technical and rocky and Johan had to work extra hard at navigating, the road they had to follow had no existing path.

In less than 10 minutes the Conqueror team took the lead after the start of the race.

Philip said that they did not once have to get out of the vehicle during the race; this has helped them to take the first position after a race of 400 km. They only problem they experienced; was that Johan's cell phone fell and ended up underneath the petrol pedal causing it to get stuck on a very high speed, and some minor clutch problems.

Philip is very proud of his preparation team that exists of Johan Viljoen (also navigator), Zander Kriel and himself. The most of the other teams consists of 3 to 5 members working on the vehicle full time and during the race much more pit crew!

The team stressed that they could not have been able to accomplish their performance without the blessing and grace of our Heavenly Father.

In this outstanding achievement they WON a total of ten trophies - five each!

  • 1st Overall winner of the Atlas Copco 400
  • 1st A-class winner of the Atlas Copco 400
  • 1st Place for Newcomer of the year 2013
  • 2nd Place in 2013 National Cross Country General(Driver and Navigator)Championship
  • 2nd Place in the A-class National Cross Country General Championship

The Conqueror Racing Team can now start the 2014 season proudly wearing the A2 number.

The next dream is to follow the prospects to compete in the DAKAR 2015 hosted in Argentina; with the support and agreement with an added valued invested from the teams Sponsors.

Any Sponsors interested in investing in this winning Team, please contact Philip de Vries on

Philip would also like to use this opportunity to thank you the teams current Sponsors for their support this year, without them they could not have achieved their goals.
